Free speech is only about being heard. None of these people asked to be ‘worshiped’. Where are you getting that? If anything it’s the right to be heard and hated.

And being fired is not the same as “losing a few sales.” If a writer isn’t fired, and their writing continues to be read, either by people who hate it vociferously or by those who agree, there’s no call for firing that person. Unless the publication has pledged to only have views that conform to a specific ideology and this writer no longer does that.

I am sure I would be offended by a lot of what was referenced here if I read it, being an old school “Free Speech Movement” type liberal, but I am also alarmed at how many people are simply fired because a Twitter mob or equivalent decides to try to oust them.
