I finally left my company after 8 months of twice daily Zoom meetings + 2 or 3 weekly Zoom meetings with an angry, abusive boss and paranoid staff. Now I can't even remember how I managed to get through that every day. A week before I left we had our most godawful Zoom event ever - the Company Christmas Party. It was supposed to be a whiskey tasting event, but in the end they just sent random (different) types of alcohol to every employee and were just supposed to drink it while the entire room made awkward conversation. There wasn't even a program about the alcohol, and since we all had different things there wasn't much to talk about. I think it may have been the longest hour of my entire life, including even the worst hour of my most bored day as a child (when time passes 100 times more slowly.)
I still feel guilty about not going to a close relative's Zoom baby shower, but I knew there would be too much cringe involved. I mean, what is virtual baby shower anyway? I sent a gift, but WTH do you do for two hours with a gallery of all of your relative's childhood friends whom you don't know when you'll probably only get to talk to her for less than a minute if that?
