The only thing that bothered me about this piece was your apology at the end and statement that these common sense rules that have been so rudely thrown out the window makes you a curmudgeon in any sense.

I would not get along with modern parents. If I do manage to have a kid in the next year or so I will not be putting up with these things. I do not believe in adults staying at a child’s birthday party, at dance lessons or soccer practice, at playdates, really at anything except for a party where both kids and adults are invited.

I also don’t want to be friends or let my kids be friends with the children of people who don’t set reasonable boundaries for their children. Children should be reprimanded if they rudely interrupt adults’ conversation. Schedules need to be set and followed.

I don’t care if every other parent in this country has lost their marbles. I am not going to follow suit.

I may have to start a common sense parents club so I can cling to what few people are left remember how to parent.
